War on America: Seen from the Indian Ocean
Here's a Pajamas Media "quick and dirty" on Mumbai and possible involvement of Pakistan.
There's no telling how the outcome will turn out in terms of bias, but it's interesting and informative to watch the wikipedians work.

So where is South Ossetia?
I must admit that I was relatively ignorant of local Georgia geography prior to the Russian invasion of Georgia "in the name of" South Ossetian independence. I knew that Georgia lay below Russia and had as its western border, Black Sea coastline to the south lay Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan; and that it's territory also bordered the troublesome Russian provinces of Chechnya and Dagestan.
I was at a loss however as to the exact locations of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Hopefully the map below helps others grasp where and what this conflict is all about.
I'm sure I'll have more to say about this in the future, as I am sure that this conflict will grow in scope and importance as time wears on. For now though, let me be clear, I see this as a case of clear cut Russian aggression under the pretext of "independence" for South Ossetia. I don't buy the Russian cover story one little bit.
I would be more inclined to believe it if the Russians started talking about independence for a North AND South Ossetian state, but they are not, they are talking about annexing South Ossetia and possibly all of Georgia itself. They're performing one play for the world media and another on the ground in Georgia. Unless the Russians start talking about NORTH OSSETIAN INDEPENDENCE, their claim of "protection" for South Ossetia and their invasion of Georgia is merely theatre to disguise the rebuilding of the Russo/Soviet Empire.
The US should offer economic and military assistance to the Georgians immediately. I think that Georgia's application to NATO should be immediately approved and an ultimatium should be delivered to the Russians to withdraw to their own territory and agree to an immediate cease fire. They can then bring their case to the UN, just as the U.S. has done in the past.
Of course they won't do this and the Russian-Georgia war of 2008 will continue.
I do hope the map helped some people though.

Warfare. . .
What we are witnessing in Britain, France and elsewhere throughout the world is quite simply. . .warfare. A new unconventional type of warfare being conducted against nations by a decentralized coalition of non-state and state-supported entities.
This is why I support the language used to describe this war even though the left wants to lament about the phrasing of "War on Terror".
When the histories of this period are written, the "youths", "al-queda'ist", "jihadis", etc. will have a different term applied to them; it's also likely that this war will no longer be the WOT but be replaced by a more "appropriate" moniker. Probably something like World War 3,4 or 5.
It's a war people. What have you done to support Democracy against the Caliphate today? Me, not so much, but maybe, in some small way, this post is doing just that.

It's long since past the time. . .
That we should just start referring to this as
Look folks, it's time, we've got ideologies out there that are directly opposed to everything the sane people of the world have been working for since the end of the last worldwide conflict. Islamic Fasism and Personality Cult Communism are threats to FREEDOM, LIBERTY, and HUMANITY. It's time to stop pussyfooting around and just start calling this what it is.
Condi needs to get her butt over to China ASAP and get the Chinese to take the role of the Soviets in WW2 and lead on getting North Korea under control, the U.S. and it's allies need to get on the ball with Iran and end that threat sooner rather than later. If Chavez makes a stink, unleash Brazil on him and give them everything they need to finish him off too.
In the modern age, the world seems to have these conflicts every 50 years or so as a sort of re-alignment of mankinds direction forward. No rational person will advocate for Islamic Fascism to become a ruling power for the world, neither will a rational person advocate Personality Cult Communism as a positive way forward. It's time to recognize that certain ideologies are failed ideologies and remove them from the playing field.
I'm going to add to this the Democrats better get on board with being Americans and realize that we've got to end this petty BS and get busy with making the world safe for humankind.
Blockade NK immediately, slap the sanctions on Iran, and let's start getting rid of the nutcases. If the U.N. doesn't want to go the way of the League of Nations in short order, they'd better get on the ball too.
